Florian Sayer

Head of Business Unit Energy Technology, Fraunhofer IFAM

Dr.-Ing. Florian Sayer is a recognized expert in renewable energy, specializing in fiber composites and wind energy. He holds a diploma in Production Engineering from the University of Bremen and a PhD from Leibniz University Hannover, focusing on structural adhesive joints in wind turbine rotor blades.

Dr. Sayer was involved in the early establishment of the Fraunhofer IWES, where he contributed to its growth. He led initiatives on wind turbine blade materials and manufacturing technologies, overseeing a team of 20 researchers and initiating or managing national and international flagship projects such as BladeMaker and ReliaBlade.

Currently, Dr. Sayer is the Head of the Energy Business Unit at Fraunhofer IFAM, where he focuses on strategic development in wind energy, the hydrogen economy, energy storage, and related sectors. He actively engages in various industry networks to strengthen collaboration in renewable energy. Additionally, he lectures at the University of Bremen, sharing his expertise in materials for the energy transition.
